January 13, 2011 marks the 20 year anniversary for the series premiere of DARK SHADOWS ’91!

In celebration, we’ll be hosting forum discussions timed to coincide with the anniversary.

I’ll be running at least one giveaway during this period, featuring Dark Shadows merchandise, as well. More info to come…

It was announced back in 2007 that a deal had been made for a new Dark Shadows film, with Johnny Depp attached, but the project has been delayed a number of times. The most recent projection for the start of production had been January but now comes word, via Deadline Hollywood, that production will finally creak to life in April, 2011.

I’m hopeful the schedule holds this time.

“Dark Shadows : Resurrected” has undergone a rather huge re-vamp over the weekend. I’ve been working on this update for a while (and in fact completely trashed an earlier incarnation before starting all over again) and hope fans will enjoy it. There is still a bit of tweaking to do but I think it’s currently presentable enough for the public at large. More content is, also, going to be added over the near term. If anyone has anything they might like to contribute or suggest, just let me know.

Screen Archives Entertainment has released an impressive 66-track, 2 CD collection of musical scores composed and conducted by Bob Cobert for the Dark Shadows 1991 TV series.

The set features 33 tracks per disc and is a little over 2 hours and 15 minutes of music in total.

The included booklet is 20 pages long, lavishly filled with photos, and features a concise overview of the series. Booklet design is by Jim Titus. Liner notes were written by Jon Burlingame, who also wrote the liner notes for ‘The Night Stalker & Other Classic Thrillers’ and ‘The Complete Dark Shadows Music Soundtrack Collection,’ among others.

Hollywood legend Jean Simmons (Elizabeth Collins Stoddard), who portrayed the matriarch of the Collins family in the 1991 Dark Shadows revival series, passed away at her home in Santa Monica on Friday January 22, 2010. She was 80 years old. It’s been reported she was battling lung cancer for some time.

Born in 1929, Jean made her movie debut in the 1944 British production Give Us The Moon. She would then go on to costar with Laurence Olivier, Marlon Brando, Gregory Peck and Paul Newman, among others, in various classics such as Hamlet, Spartacus, and Guys And Dolls.

She will be missed.
